Learning Objectives and The "hook"
Learner Objectives: The students will be able to identify causes that led to the American Revolution as well as major events of the American Revolution. They will be able to analyze the information which will lead them to the side they would like to support. The information they have gathered will be used to debate their point of view based on the side they chose to support.
The "hook" or Introduction:
1. The Teacher will come into the classroom as King George III. She will give each student 20 King George Dollars as a reward for being Loyal to me and she will explain that they can use these $ at the end of the day to purchase prizes.
2. The teacher will then tax students (take away their dollars) for the littlest of things. She will continue this throughout the day until money is gone or she can see students are fed up.
3. Introduction: The American Revolution was made up of two sides: Loyalists and Patriots. Loyalists were loyal to the crown and Patriots were not loyal to the crown. Did getting taxed make you want to continue to be loyal or go your own way?
